Na Áustria, sufragânea de Görz-Gradisca. Paralelo aos Alpes Dináricos, há uma série de ilhas rochosas, separadas do continente por um estreito profundo, embora estreito. A maior delas é Veglia, que no ano 1000 tinha um bispo, Vitalis, que esteve presente em um sínodo em Spoleto. Eugênio III a tornou sufragânea de Zara, mas desde 1828 está sob Görz. Bartholomaus Bozarich esteve presente na assembleia de bispos em 1849 e seu sucessor foi um membro do Concílio Vaticano. Ainda mais antiga é a Sé de Ossero (Lusin, Absor, Auxerensis), cujo bispo o Papa João VIII escreveu em 870. O quinquagésimo quinto bispo, Raccamarich, foi transferido para Cattaro em 1818, e Ossero e Veglia foram unidas. A Sé de Arbe (Scardona) é ainda mais antiga. Seu primeiro bispo conhecido participou de um concílio em Salona em 530. O quinquagésimo oitavo bispo, Galzigna (falecido em 1823), foi também o último, pois sua diocese foi incorporada à de Veglia. Embora Veglia seja uma sé tripla, contém apenas 809.000 católicos, 95 sacerdotes seculares, 64 regulares e 68 freiras.
In Austria, suffragan of Görz-Gradisca. Parallel to the Dinaric Alps are a number of rocky islands, separated from the mainland by a deep, though narrow, strait. The largest of them is Veglia, which in the year 1000 had a bishop, Vitalis, who was present at a synod in Spoleto. Eugene III made it a suffragan of Zara, but since 1828 it has been under Görz. Bartholomaus Bozarich was present at the assembly of bishops in 1849 and his successor was a member of the Vatican Council. Still more ancient is the See of Ossero (Lusin, Absor, Auxerensis), to whose bishop Pope John VIII wrote in 870. The fifty-fifth bishop, Raccamarich, was transferred to Cattaro in 1818, and Ossero and Veglia were united. The See of Arbe (Scardona) is even more ancient. Its first known bishop attended a council at Salona in 530. The fifty-eight bishop, Galzigna (d. in 1823), was also the last, as his diocese was merged in that of Veglia.
