Nascido em Oxfordshire, Inglaterra, em 1594; morreu em Londres, em 13 de fevereiro de 1664; neto de Edmund Plowden, o grande advogado; ingressou na Companhia de Jesus em 1617; enviado para a Missão Inglesa por volta de 1622. Foi preso, juntamente com outros padres, pelos perseguidores em 1628, em Clerkenwell, a residência londrina dos jesuítas. Ocupou diversos cargos de responsabilidade na ordem e trabalhou na arriscada Missão Inglesa até sua morte. Traduziu do italiano de D. Bartoli "O Homem Erudito Defendido e Reformado" (Londres, 1660).
Born in Oxfordshire, England, 1594; died in London, 13 Feb., 1664; grandson of Edmund Plowden, the great lawyer; entered the Society of Jesus, 1617; sent on the English Mission about 1622. He was seized, with other fathers, by the pursuivants in 1628, at Clerkenwell, the London residence of the Jesuits. He filled various responsible offices of the order, and laboured on the perilous English Mission until his death. He translated from the Italian of D. Bartoli "The Learned Man Defended and Reformed" (London, 1660)
